On the frontage of The Old Vine House grows the Old Vine, the oldest vine in the world which is, with an age of over 400 years, registered also in the Guinness Book of Records. The House was built in the 16th century and was once part of the town's defence wall.

Today The Old Vine House is a temple of wine tradition and culture of Maribor, Štajerska and Slovenia, with guided tours through exhibitions of rich wine heritage and museum exhibits. 

The Old Vine House is a wine tasting place of excellent Slovene wines, selling point of Maribor-Pohorje souvenirs, and the honorary seat of Slovene and international associations, sworn to honouring wine and the wine culture. In the House is also a tourist information centre.

Beside the events in the honour of the Old Vine (pruning of the Old Vine, St Martin's Day  and the Old Vine Festival with the highlight of ceremonial grape harvest) in the House and in the front of it many wine and culinary events take place. In the summer months you can seat outside in our wine garden enjoying an excellent glass of wine and the view at the vine.  

The House is open every day of the week: October – April: from 10 am to 6 pm and May – September: from 10 am to 8 pm. The entrance is free.
