Swiss Youth Hostels

The Swiss Hotel Association and Swiss Youth Hostels are working together to promote quality and transparency in the Swiss accommodation landscape: As of 1 January 2013, all 45 hostels will be joining the association and will be granted ‘Swiss Lodge’ classification. For the two industry organisations, the cooperation is a win-win situation from which Swiss tourism as a whole is set to benefit.

‘Swiss Lodge’ – a success story
The youth hostels will be granted ‘Swiss Lodge’ classification – a base category for medium- and small-sized businesses that the association launched successfully in early 2011 as part of the new Swiss hotel classification. “We have been able to classify more than 100 enterprises as Swiss Lodge, with a rising trend,” summarises Christoph Juen. A number of youth hostels have already been a member of the Swiss Hotel Association for a longer period. “Once the new category was introduced, it was clear to us that all of our hostels would join the Swiss Hotel Association,” says Fredi Gmür. The hostels are now set to benefit further from the services provided by the Swiss Hotel Association.
