Come and enjoy the capital of Luxembourg during the summer months when it is packed with cultural events. From classic to rock, from blues and jazz to street art, there is something to suit everyone’s taste. With the modern youth hostel Luxembourg located at the heart of the capital and with 240 beds waiting for you, you’re staying at the ideal starting point to attend these performances which are generally free of charge.

The 17th edition of the "summer in the city" festival, organized by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office, was initially launched in 1995 when Luxembourg was for the first time "European Capital of Culture" and has been a huge success ever since.

Some of the summer highlights are:

09.06.2012 Open air festival Blues an der Buerg, at the youth hostel in Bourglinster. Located only 15 km from Luxembourg City, 20 minutes by car, you will be treated to first class blues whilst enjoying Texas food and/or a barbecue.

08.07.2012 Festival Rock um Knuedler, the capital's biggest open air rock festival. Every summer up to 15.000 music lovers celebrate during 10 hours, while luxembourgish bands perform alongside international headliners on two stages on Place Guillaume II. This summer Roger Hodgson & Band, the legendary voice of Supertramp, will do us the honor.

15.07.2012 Chilly Summer Festival, at the youth hostel in Luxembourg City. If you fancy staying in for a change, there are good times guaranteed with open air concerts, cocktails and barbecue on the hostels grounds.

21.07.2012 Blues’n Jazz Rallye, a quirky music marathon that attracts every summer up to 25.000 blues and jazz lovers who then invade the picturesque old city quarters of the Grund and Clausen with stages and bands in every corner in every street surrounded by the fortress ramparts.

11.08. - 12.08.2012 Streeta(rt)nimation, this festival turns Luxembourg's city pedestrian zone into a giant open air street theatre with international artists, travelling musicians, comedians and acrobats performing.

23.08-11.09.2012 Schueberfouer, this is traditional Luxembourg at its best. With the rides being its main attraction, a hint of its historical origins as the city’s fair can still be found in the Schefferallée which is crammed with little stalls selling food, drink and odds and ends. The 672 edition of THE fun fair in Luxembourg is not to miss. See you for a ride at the Champs du Glacis.
