Discover Germany - Romantic Rhine Gorge

On its long journey from the Alpes to the North Sea the longest German river Rhine runs through di-verse landscapes. The UNESCO World Cultural Heritage of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley with its myths and legends is particularly impressive and fascinates travellers for a long time. They are now being offered accommodation at the new youth hostel Kaub.

Timely with respect to New Year’s Eve it will be opened on 28 Decembeer 2009. Located right be-tween the river Rhine and the “Rheinsteig” (hiking trail along the riverside) passing by the world-famous castle “Pfalzgrafenstein”, the hostel is an attractive destination for nature lovers and active people. The modern building has 138 beds available in one to four-bedded-rooms and offers high standard. All rooms have shower and toilet facilities ensuite. The attractive lounge features a bistro, a coffee bar as well as a cosy restaurant all of which invite to rest.

The Upper Middle Rhine Valley between Bingen and Koblenz is recognized World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO since 2002 because of its diversity and beauty and has inspired painters and poets for more than 200 years.

Along this approximately 65 km long section of the river Rhine, pervading rocky landscapes and pass-ing by vineyards, 40 castles and fortresses from different eras border the shores. Among them is the castle hostel “Burg Stahleck” from the 12th century with a wonderful view towards the Rhine valley. Moreover the youth hostels at Bingen, Oberwesel, and St Goar are quite popular among hostellers.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended as to all youth hostels mentioned:
