We’re going continental and beyond!

In 2009 and 2010 Hostelling International Northern Ireland (HINI) will undertake a major promotional tour of youth hostels in Europe and North America. A small group representing HINI will travel across ten countries showcasing Northern Ireland as a top tourist destination and promoting their six Northern Ireland youth hostels.

The HINI promotional tour kicks off in the Republic of Ireland, closely followed by London and Scotland. From autumn 2009 the tour continues to France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada and finally the USA.

Over the last few years HINI has enjoyed a 45% growth in overnight stays, with increases from the overseas markets including New Zealand, Australia and the USA. One of the most recent highlights for HINI was the official opening of the extended and refurbished Belfast International Youth Hostel in 2008.

Commenting on the rapid growth, Ken Canavan, HINI’s General Secretary commented, “This is a wonderful opportunity to show case our Youth Hostel facilities and Northern Ireland to a captive audience in youth hostels in several countries. It will be a truly a unique marketing experience”.
