Zagorje, Trbovlje and Hrastnik
Many people have not traveled to our Three Beautiful Valleys, where three towns with a rich natural and cultural heritage are hiding behind green hills. Zasavje region with tourism brand "Three beautiful valleys" offers a wide range of interesting excursions for every taste. Each of the region's towns - Zagorje, Trbovlje and Hrastnik surprises visitors with its own characteristics and peculiarities.
Zagorje, which is the largest by Zasavje’s area, offers visitors a circular path, where traveler finds the history of the city, few kilometers away can enjoy at the touristic farmhouses, to taste a delicious local food. Also for hikers is well taken care of, so they can never be bored. Worth to visit is the ruins of the castle Media, where Valvasors family lived there. In Kisovec visitors can go to mining museum, which is in an abandoned mine shaft engine. Even for the adrenaline seeking visitors is taken care of, because you can sit in a sports plane in Ruardi or a parachute and see Zasavje through a bird’s eye view.
Town
Trbovlje can offer visitors an ethnological route through the mining colony, to explore how and where coalminers where living. Trbovlje is perfect for exploring the culture and history because of its interesting and unique past. Tourists can also visit a mine and walk through towards town Hrastnik. In the center of town tourists should visit a cultural center – Delavski dom with unique mosaic, where many exhibitions, shows, concerts and cinema movies are played there, Museum of Zasavje, where history of coalmining industry is exhibited. In vicinity is also a new building –
Youth center and hostel Trbovlje. Besides hostel, there is a nice Cafeteria and a club, where many events are held. Recreational visitors can walk from Trbovlje to hill Mrzlica or Kum. Away from town, at a beautiful quiet place surrounded by mountains, visitors can ride a horse with the instructor.
After visiting both places you can go to the smallest town of Zasavje region, Hrastnik. There you can go to museum where visitors can see Roman excavations found along the Sava River. For larger groups they also host a puppet shows and on the end you can have a lesson on an old tradition in an old classroom. In Hrastnik you can also go kayaking along the Sava River.
Visitors can spend the night in a new
Youth center and hostel Trbovlje, located in the city center next to Zasavje Museum and cultural center. Youth hostel is suitable for young and old, guests can also bring their pets. There are two apartments with shared kitchen, three double rooms and a room with 14 beds. In a large shared kitchen we organize breakfast or it can be used by guests. There is also a Tourist information centre, located in Youth center and hostel Trbovlje, that is organizing trips and excursions for guests and travelers across Zasavje.
