New CYHA Youth Hostel

Following the good cooperation with the City of Rijeka after opening the first youth hostel in Rijeka, CYHA has opened a new youth hostel in a small fishermen town of Veli Lošinj on the beautiful island of Lošinj. The hostel building is a nice Mediterranean style villa which the City of Rijeka has given to CYHA for runing and opening a youth hostel. Veli Lošinj YH is a small cozy place with 50 beds in two, three, four and five bedded rooms and it is run by a young enthusiastic team of CYHA professionals and volunteers.

CYHA has created a new membership card for young people between 14 and 30 years old. The new membership card is a co-branded Youth Hostel and EURO<26 card. For marketing purposes and in order to strongly promote youth travel in Europe by using youth hostels and youth discounts the co-branded card is called „hi.euro“. The hi.euro project is financially supported by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports.

During the Summer Academy of young political activists that took place in Zadar Youth Hostel a special programme was organized on the topic of Youth tourism and its imortance for future tourism in Croatia. The main guest and speaker was the Croatian Minister of Tourism Damir Bajs. CYHA officials introduced the Minister with the youth hostelling movement in Croatia and worldwide and discussed the future plans of CYHA for the development of youth hostel network in Croatia.
