Four days of mud, rain, chill in a lively atmosphere with great performances by Franz Ferdinand, Royksopp, Razorlight, Oasis, Travis and King of Leon to name a few. That just about sums up the Gurten Festival 2009.
For the 5th year in a row the Swiss Youth Hostels sponsored the camp site ‘Sleepingzone’ at the festival and turned it into the largest youth hostel in the world for four days.
In the middle of this camp size, festival visitors this year had a lounge where they could relax on large pillows, meet people, play table football or take part in different activities organised by the Swiss Youth Hostels. The first
500 people who checked in at the hostel-lounge-reception were presented with a free YHA membership card for a year. Festival visitors could also take part in a competition. Each person was given a wristlet with a number on it and the aim was to find all the other concertgoers with matching numbers (boy/girl). Altogether 10 people found their ‘number- match’ and won a weekend in a Swiss youth hostel (taking their 'number-matches was of course optional).
Haven't been to the Gurten Music Festival yet? We’ll be there next year again for sure and would love to see you!
