Sustainable renovation with respect for history

In March of this year the hostel re-opened its door for everyone to enjoy the renewed interior! The renovation of Stayokay Amsterdam Stadsdoelen was carried out with respect for the building's monumental status. Through innovative solutions like internal insulation, solar panels, heat pumps, and special glass, the hostel was modernised and made gas-free without compromising its historic character.

You’ll also discover sustainable hints for our guests in the interior of the hostel, like our Plastic Soup Art Wall. In collaboration with De Groene Grachten, the renovation showcases that even historic buildings can be made sustainable. It aligns with our mission to inspire guests and reduce environmental impact across all our hostels.
