Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand and can be found near the top of North Island on a small strip of land that joins the Northern peninsula to the North Island. THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN AUCKLAND

  • Auckland is known as the City of Sails due to the huge number of yachts that line the Waitemata and Manukau Harbours and dot the surrounding coastline for as far as the eye can see. Excursions are popular here for dolphin-spotting as well as tours around the harbour and along New Zealand’s beautiful coastline. While you’re here you may want to climb its historic Harbour Bridge. Auckland is also known as the City of Volcanoes due to being built on the Volcanic Field consisting of over 45 volcanoes. Many are accessible to climb or drive to the top and the journey is well worth the effort for the wonderful panoramic views over the city. 
  • Auckland War Memorial Museum is one of the best in New Zealand. More than just a war museum, it offers some excellent Maori and Polynesian arts and crafts. Auckland Art Gallery is housed in a wonderful historic building dating back to 1888 and houses the largest collection of national and international art in the country, more than 14,000 works in total. The Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter & Underwater world offers a unique view of life under the water with a walk through glass tunnel, King Penguins and an optional swim with stingrays and sharks. 
  • Auckland is a modern city with plenty of history and you won’t be short of things to do in this cosmopolitan, lively and picturesque city. Relax in the many trendy cafes, shop in the trendy department stores and boutiques and enjoy the wonderful clean air and friendly atmosphere that is Auckland.

EATING OUT & NIGHTLIFE IN AUCKLAND

Food lovers will love Auckland for the variety and quality of restaurants throughout the city. Local and international dishes can be found for all price ranges.
