THINGS TO DO AND SEE IN SINGAPORE

  • Singapore inspires images of food which is good as eating is the main national pastime. There is a huge array of choice from all around the world, including Chinese, Malay, Japanese, Thai, French, Italian and many more being on offer. If you’re looking for local delicacies then you may want to try satay with peanut sauce, chilli crab or kaya, an egg and coconut spread eaten on morning toast.
  • If shopping is on your list, then Singapore is not short on shopping malls whose air conditioning brings a welcome release to the humid climate out on the streets. Shopping Malls tend to have a huge array of shops all competing with best prices. Look out for the Great Singapore Sale (June-July) if you’re looking to purchase a bargain. Clothes, fabrics, electrical goods and of course food are all popular choices for visitors to Singapore.
  • When you want an escape from shopping and eating, then there is always the Esplanade Theatre in Marina Bay for performing arts and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Daily tickets are available for dance, classical, opera and similar cultural events. A trip to Singapore would not be complete without a visit to Raffles Hotel inspired by the Malayan plantations of the 1920s and the legendary Singapore Sling.
